Rephad Primary School in Stranaer is expected to reopen tomorrow, after closing for two days due to a reported gas leak discovered on Monday the 11th of September.

It’s understood engineers from gas network SGN were alerted, with workers identifying the source of the leak and carrying out the necessary repairs.

Dan Brown, a spokesperson for SGN said, “The building had been evacuated prior to our engineers arriving at the school, and pupils were sent home for the day.

“Our engineers identified the source of the leak, made safe and carried out checks before leaving site. The school’s maintenance engineers are responsible for recommissioning the gas supply to the building.”

The Council say contractors have been carrying out further testing today, with doors expected to open again tomorrow, Wednesday the 13th of September.
