The family of a man who was fatally stabbed in The Meadows last week have released a picture of him.

Michael Anton O’Connor, 31, from Alexandra Park, was found with knife wounds in Wilford Crescent West shortly before 10.30pm on Wednesday (10 November).

Officers worked hard with paramedics to provide emergency first aid to the 31-year-old but he sadly died a short time later at the Queen’s Medical Centre.

Eight people were subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder following the incident. They included seven men aged 19, 21, 23, 27, 29, 34 and 47 and a 37-year-old woman who have all been released on conditional bail while enquires continue.

A 28-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has also been released on conditional bail.

Detective Chief Inspector Robert Routledge, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This remains a complex and fast-moving investigation.

“We have a dedicated team of detectives, crime scene investigators and forensic scientists completing enquiries to establish the exact events of the evening of November 10 and to achieve justice for Michael and his family and friends.

“Our thoughts remain with them and we continue to have specially trained officers supporting Michael’s family through this difficult time.

“Anyone with information which may assist with our enquiries can contact police on 101.”

Inspector Karl Thomas, who leads the City South neighbourhood policing team, added: “We are continuing to deploy a visible policing presence in the area to provide reassurance for local residents, as we do understand the events of last week will have caused concern in the community.

“We are also continuing to work in partnership with faith and community leaders who are undertaking outreach work in the area in response to this tragedy. If you have any concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to any of our officers.”
