Police investigate sexual assault of 'young woman' in Staffordshire

She was walking through a wooded area of Burton when it happened

Staffordshire Police are appealing for witnesses following a sexual assault in Burton.

The incident reportedly happened in a wooded area, at the rear of the allotments, towards the end of Belvoir Road, near to the Queen’s Hospital, at approximately 8.15pm last night (Thursday 16 September).

The victim, a young woman, had walked over the A38 footbridge bridge towards the hospital and through the wooded area and is currently receiving support from specially-trained officers.

The man is described as white, in his late teens to mid-20s, approximately 5ft 7ins tall, of a medium build and had a Birmingham accent. It was reported he has short dark hair with a ginger/brown short beard and wearing a white/light-coloured shirt and black joggers. He made off on a bicycle towards Shobnall Fields.

Detectives are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the Belvoir Road area at around 8.15pm – along with motorists with dashcam footage who may have been travelling through at the time.
