George Michael dies aged 53
Sad news the singer has passed
Singer/songwriter George Michael has sadly passed away aged 53. Police were called to a house in Oxfordshire this afternoon and say there are no suspicious circumstances.
His publicist released the following statement following his death.
"It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period. The family would ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult and emotional time."
Michael first found fame alongside friend Andrew Ridgeley in Wham!
He then went on to release solo albums and was set to work with producer and songwriter Naughty Boy on new material.
