There are concerns about the amount of domestic abuse across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.

It's as there were around 16 thousand domestic abuse related crimes across the Humberside Police force area during lockdown.

As a result HSBC have launched safe spaces across their branches to allow victims of abuse to access help and support services.

However there has been some criticism from Jennifer Gilmore from Hull who's an author and advocate of women in abusive relationships – she says they need to be more accessible.

"When I was in an abusive relationship I didn't know it was domestic abuse and so I might not have accessed a survey".

"However if we've got the right posters and the right adverts maybe saying things like, "do you feel like you're walking on egg shells that may help."

She says there are signs to look out for:

"It feels like the responsibility is always on the victim, so it's nice employers are taking that responsibility and spotting the signs."

"In general as individuals in society we should all be equipping ourselves with that knowledge."
