It's due to a bridge joint repair that's taking place

Drivers are being urged to leave more time for their journeys in Hull city centre due to an issue with a bridge joint on the A63.

The westbound side at Clive Sullivan way is shut - and its likely to stay that way until tomorrow afternoon (20th January).

We're being told delays are likely.

National Highways says:

"The A63 westbound at Clive Sullivan Way is expected to remain closed within the junction at the A1166 at Brighton Street until tomorrow afternoon

"Traffic is currently being diverted at the junction exit slip road before re-joining at the entry slip.

"Delays are expected during tonight’s peak traffic period with drivers urged to allow extra time for their journeys or find alternative routes if at all possible."

A temporary repair is due to take place tomorrow morning on the bridge joint - and currently it's thought the road will be able to re-open mid afternoon.

A permanent repair will then be scheduled.

Drivers are also reminded the A63 will be closed on the eastbound carriageway between Daltry Street and Roger Millward Way from 8pm tonight until 6am on Monday morning.

This closure is in place to allow essential works at Castle Street, with drivers advised to follow signposted diversions.
