People in the wedding industry in East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire are calling on the government not to forget them when setting out the roadmap out of lockdown next week.

Helen Davies is a wedding planner from East Yorkshire and has had to change her appointments numerous times due to couples not being able to have the dream wedding they want.

Helen told us:

“A significant proportions of couples who’s weddings I had planned and re-arranged, I am now having to postpone and alter their plans for the second and In some cases the third time around.”

Currently weddings across the UK have come to a halt due to lockdown but Boris Johnson is set to deliver a ‘roadmap’ out of COVID 19 restrictions on Monday 22nd January.

UK Wedding taskforce is calling on the government to provide a grant of £680m as well as temporary rates relief, VAT reduction and measures to protect deposits.

Helen said:

“The fact that key industry representatives have been willing to devote their time and efforts to the industry is fantastic and I fully support the campaign.”
