Keeping Up Appearances actor Clive Swift has died aged 82

Actor Clive Swift has sadly passed away at the age of 82, after suffering from a short illness.

Clive was best known for playing the long-suffering husband of Hyacinth Bucket (played by Patricia Routledge) in popular British sitcom Keeping Up Appearances.

Clive's agent confirmed the sad news, revealing he was surrounded by his close family at the time of his death.

After breaking into the acting world in the 1970s, Clive went on to appear in a number of hit shows. He starred as Doctor Black in two of the BBC's M. R. James adaptations, including The Stalls of Barchester and A Warning to the Curious.

The actor later went on to appear in Doctor Who, making his last appearance on the show during the Christmas special in 2007, playing the role of Mr Copper.

He most recently played a character named Felix Hope in Midsomer Murders in 2017.
