Mariah Carey has been known as the Queen of Christmas since the release of her classic festive track 'All I Want For Christmas Is You' in 1994. So, it's no surprise that her debut children's book is about the winter holiday. Titled The Christmas Princess, Mariah made the exciting announcement about the book on her Instagram, where she described it as: 'a fairytale for holiday lovers of all ages!'.

As part of the announcement, Mariah explained what readers can expect from the book and shared a photo of the cover. She wrote: 'Little Mariah represents my inner child believing in her own vision, she represents all children, especially those who feel like outsiders or “others”, striving to believe in themselves.'

Mariah also reflected: 'It was empowering to transform my childhood turmoil into a modern classic fairytale full of wonder and boundless hope.'

The book has been co-written by award-winning author Michaela Angela Davis, who Mariah worked with to create her 2020 memoir The Meaning Of Mariah Carey. The picture book is illustrated by artist Fuuji Takashi, and will be published by Henry Holt Books for Young Readers.

According to description for The Christmas Princess, the book is about Little Mariah who: 'doesn't have much and doesn't want a lot'. Her only wish is for: 'a peaceful and joyous holiday season.'

The storyline follows Little Mariah who feels 'outcast and alone', as she: 'sets off on a wintry, wondrous journey, ultimately discovering the healing power of her voice to spread the spirit of Christmas at home and all around the world.'

The book is due to come out in autumn 2022, which will be perfect for Christmas-lovers to get into the festive spirit.
