The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation have announced the list of 14 nominees for their class of 2023, and it has a wide variety of amazing artists!

The list includes the likes of Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Cyndi Lauper and George Michael, along with iconic bands such as The Spinners, The White Stripes and Iron Maiden.

Both Kate Bush and The Spinners have already received four nominations in the past, but neither have received an award.

To be eligible for this prestigious award a band or individual artist must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.

John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation said: "This remarkable list of Nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honours and celebrates. These artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps."

The CEO Greg Harris recently shared a new mission statement stating what they believe rock and roll music is.

"Born from the collision of rhythm & blues, country and gospel, rock 'n' roll is a spirit that is inclusive and ever-changing. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame celebrates the sound of youth culture and honours the artists whose music connects us all."

This confirms that artists from any genre can pick up the award - not just rock musicians!

The artists being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2023 will be announced in May, with the ceremony taking place in the autumn.

The full list as well as the voting ballet can be found on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame website.
