Man dies following serious collision in Basildon

The single-car incident took place at on Tuesday night

A man in his 20s has died following a serious road collision in Basildon on Tuesday (February 15th).

Officers from Essex Police were called to the scene of the crash on Cranes Farm Road at around 9:40 p.m.

Ambulance crews were also called to treat the driver of the black BMW, but the man died at the scene. The victim's family has been made aware of his death.

The incident was a single-vehicle collision and the road was closed until the following morning while police carried out enquiries.

As a result of their investigation, two men aged 18 and another man aged 21 were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit through drink/drugs.

But since then, all three men were released without charge and are now helping police in Basildon piece together how the crash happened.

Police are also appealing to the general public for any information that might be relevant to their investigation.

Anyone who saw the crash but did not speak to police at the time is being urged to get in contact at their local police station. Those with dashcam footage around the time of the incident are also of interest.
