Cadent re-assure public that Chelmsford gas leak is "Minor"

Repair work is taking place by engineers on site, which we're told should be finished "reasonably quickly"

Cadent gas network, say they "swiftly responded" to reports of a gas leak on Broomfield Road, Chelmsford, after a concerned member of the public alerted authorities on Wednesday.

A spokesperson for Cadent confirmed the incident, stating, "We were called to Broomfield Road, Chelmsford, on Wednesday by a member of the public who had smelt gas."

Upon arrival, Cadent engineers commenced efforts to locate and address the source of the leak within the local network. "Cadent engineers quickly arrived at the location and have been working to pinpoint the source of the escape within the local network. This has now been done and our engineers are in the process of making the necessary repairs," the spokesperson added.

Collaboration with local authorities has been integral to the resolution process, with the spokesperson noting, "We have been working closely with the local authority who requested that the road be closed last night so that the repair work could take place."

Expressing gratitude for the community's patience during the operation, the spokesperson emphasized, "We appreciate everyone's patience as we work as safely and as efficiently as we can to get this resolved as soon as possible."
