New Colchester Borough Council leader and cabinet agreed
The council's Conservative and Highwoods Independent Group have joined together
Colchester Borough Council's new leader and cabinet have been agreed today (26 May).
At a full council meeting, it was agreed that Cllr Paul Dundas will lead a six strong cabinet with Cllr Sue Lissimore joining him as Deputy Leader.
They are accompanied by fellow conservatives Cllr Darius Laws (Economy, Business and Heritage), Cllr Andrew Ellis (Housing and Planning), Cllr Simon Crow (Environment and Sustainability) and Highwoods Independent's Cllr Beverley Oxford (Communities).
Cllr Paul Dundas, leader of the authority, said:
"It is truly an honour to serve this great borough as the leader of the council.
"While we still have the major implications of the pandemic and the national lockdown to contend with, I look forward to driving forward our commitments over the coming year for the benefit for our residents, businesses and the borough as a whole."
As a result of the local election the Conservatives hold 23 seats, Liberal Democrats have 12, 11 for Labour, three for Highwoods Independent Group and two for Green.
