Stricter measures are wanted by locals in Frinton to stop day-trippers parking in dangerous places.

The Frinton Residents’ Association is concerned that bad parking could lead to emergency vehicles not being able to get through.

They are worried that the large amount of visitors coming to their popular coastal town will make the parking worse, and lead to accidents.

Last weekend the town was full of visitors which Neil Churcher, chairman of the Frinton Resident’s Association says people were parking in all sorts of dangerous places.

Churcher said: “People were parking on grass verges which is illegal, on yellow lines which is illegal, but worse still – they were dangerously parked on corners so people couldn’t get round corners properly.

“The seaside half of the town, that’s south of the railway line, becomes gridlocked – this then prevents access for emergency vehicles.

“People are queuing to get in and trying to park and then they park on corners across people’s droves and black roads, so you have cars parked either side of narrow roads.

“Then in the evening, people are taking up to two hours to get out of the town because the cars are trying to drive up the middle of the road between cars on either side.”
