Essex vaccination centre celebrates 1st birthday

An Essex vaccination centre is marking a major milestone today (January 19), at it celebrates opening its doors exactly a year ago.

The Lodge at Runwell has been vaccinating people from across the county as part of the biggest innoculation programme in history.

Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the Lodge, has given out almost 1.25 doses vaccine over the past 12 months.

Nigel Leonard is in charge of is co-ordinating vaccination centres across Suffolk, north east Essex and mid and south Essex.

He said: “This is a major milestone and I am so proud of all our staff who have worked effortlessly to ensure we vaccinate as many people as possible.

“We are delighted to be part of the vaccination delivery programme and we are celebrating the massive amount of hard work by hundreds of our healthcare colleagues and volunteer marshals across mid and south Essex and Suffolk and north east Essex.”

More than 123,000 people have been vaccinated at The Lodge vaccination centre so far.

More than 38,000 people have had their first dose, 46,500 their second and more than 38,700 a booster jab.
