Essex Police drop murder investigation after woman found dead in Basildon

Essex Police say they're no longer treating the death of a woman in Basildon, as murder.

Officers were called to an address at Dewsgreen in Vange on Thursday November 4, 2021 following concern for her welfare.

When they arrived they discovered a woman in her 60's had died.

A 47-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released without charge and will take no further action.

"We were called to concerns for the welfare of the woman shortly after 6.40am yesterday morning, Thursday 4 November.

"We arrived and sadly found the woman, aged in her 60s, had died.

"Initially, her death was treated suspicious, and a man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

"A forensic post-mortem examination has been carried out this morning, the results of which confirm there was no third-party involvement in her death.

"Our investigation is therefore being finalised and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

"The 47-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murder has been released without charge and will no further action."
