Five people rescued from flooding in Hatfield Peveral and Theydon Bois
It's as some roads remain flooded from Storm Henk and further heavy rainfall
Five people were rescued yesterday (January 7th) by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) crews after driving into floodwater.
Firefighters were called to Mowden Hall Lane in Hatfield Peveral just after 3pm, where two people were trapped inside their car in floodwater.
Later, after 4:30pm, crews were called to three people trapped in their car in floodwater in Abridge Road in Theydon Bois.
Water rescue firefighters saved all five people from their trapped vehicles, and are reminding drivers to not drive through floodwater.
Its as several roads across the county remain flooded from Storm Henk, and further heavy rainfall since.
Station Manager John Warmann said: “Lots of roads across Essex are still flooded. Please find another route if a road or ford you come across is flooded.
“If you drive through floodwater, you’ll risk to your life, our lives when we come to rescue you and your vehicle could be severely damaged - lots of car insurers won’t actually pay out if you intentionally drive through floodwater.”
