Police are investigating after there were several calls about a disturbance in Fyfield Road, Ongar yesterday afternoon (June 7), which is being treated as a hate crime.

Officers arrived at the scene at around 3:20pm, to find what they have described as a "challenging situation", involving a group of young people.

After officers de-escalated the situation, five young people were recognised as being primarily involved, they are now being questioned.

None of those involved sustained any serious injuries, and police remain in the area for the next few days to help ensure the welfare of those involved and local concern.

The investigation is being led by Loughton CID.

Police are appealing for anyone with footage of the incident to get in touch with them, but not to circulate it online or on social media "out of respect for everyone involved".

Those with footage or information can call Essex Police on 101 and ask to speak to Loughton CID, citing incident 808 of June 7.
