An Essex festival has been cancelled just two months before it was due to take place.

A statement has been released by Hideaway Festival, which was set to take place in Chelmsford and was set for the 4th-6th August 2023, announcing the festival this year is cancelled.

The statement cites that they have "encountered numerous challenges" which include the ongoing cost of living crisis, as well as high production costs.

In the announcement, Hideaway Festival said they didn't feel it was the "right choice to pass on expenses onto our valued customers and raise ticket prices further".

The festival, which had a dedicated family area, was set to host many artists including Clean Bandit, Bastille and James Bay at the Crix in Hatfield Peverel.

Anyone who has purchased tickets are going to be refunded, with the statement reflecting the sadness of the team.
