A man who hid drugs in his fridge and behind a sofa in Chelmsford has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Rhys Parsons, who's 24 and from Melbourne Avenue, admitted to possessing Class A and B drugs with intent to supply at an earlier hearing.

Officers carrying out a search in June 2020 found a bag of white powder in the kitchen fridge and a carrier bag "containing a green herbal substance" hidden behind the sofa in the living room.

Tests showed the powder to be cocaine and the herbal substance as cannabis buds.

Cannabis was also found in the garage.

Police Sergeant Matt Dolby, Chelmsford and Maldon Community Policing Team, said; “Despite Parsons claiming the drugs were for personal use, there was much more than he could use.

“Thankfully we were able to intercept those drugs making their way into the streets of Chelmsford and potentially causing more problems.

“We will always take action to limit the harm that drugs can cause in the wider community.”
