Due to damage to the pier caused by storms in February, the Miami Beach Party hasn't been available to ride this year.

It was located near to the area that was damaged, but the outside of the pier was closed last week so it could be moved.

Director of the landmark attraction, Billy Ball, said: "Everything went according to plan and the move was all completed by lunchtime with the outside areas reopening again the next day."

"The Miami will now go through its routine maintenance and tests along with a re-inspection before being ready for operation during the half term holiday.

"With our rides being open on Winter weekends and school holidays for the first time – weather permitting – I am sure that it will be getting plenty of use and thrilling customers again."

The pier is hoping to continue opening rides during winter months if a trial this year is successful.

Looking ahead, final touches to the attraction's Halloween celebrations are underway to ensure they can go ahead in a coronavirus-safe way.

It's expected to be a similar situation at Christmas with celebrations still taking place, but the extent will be determined by guidelines at the time.

Mr Ball added: "With things likely to change over the coming weeks we will be keeping a close eye on what we can and can’t do while remaining Covid compliant."

"These are extremely difficult times, but we all have to do what is required to keep everyone as safe as possible."

The free November fireworks won't be taking place this year due to large crowds, and details on the Halloween and Christmas events will be announced in due course.
