Ayrshire man takes on London Marathon for sister-in-law with ovarian cancer
Mike Tubb from Irvine wants to raise cash for the Beatson Cancer Charity.
An Irvine man is running the London Marathon for his sister-in-law who had an operation before Christmas to remove a rare form of ovarian cancer.
Mike Tubb is raising cash for the Beatson Cancer Charity and tells us he cannot wait to be in amongst the other runners.
"The atmosphere is completely spine tingling, the noise levels are off the scale and they help push you when you're struggling.
"I am certain I will be an emotional mess when I cross the finish line."
Mike has been training for over 17 weeks and is treating today as a "victory parade".
He added: "We have put in the hours of graft over the last few weeks.
"It's going to be my 25th marathon."
Ryan Miller from Uddingston is a former teacher and has been applying for years before he was finally accepted.
He will be raising cash for Place2Be which helps children and young people with mental health issues.
He said: "For the first time I decided to take a charity place and it's all for such a good cause.
"I have been running 5 or 6 times a week which is a big commitment but hugely enjoyable when you are being supported by friends, family and the online running community.
"It's very important to tackle something like this with a positive mindset and think about things going right rather than things going wrong."
