Following a pre-planned operation which took place in Greenock on Wednesday, 14 February, 2024, drugs with an estimated street value of £600,000 were recovered.

Due to intelligence received and acting under warrant, officers entered what was believed to be a derelict property on Newark Street and discovered a large-scale cannabis cultivation.

Two men aged 29 and 39 were arrested and charged in connection with the find and appeared at Greenock Sheriff Court on Thursday, 15 February, 2024.

Detective Inspector Nikki Wake said: “Officers are removing drugs from communities right across Scotland day in, day out, and information provided by the public is vital in helping us continue to do this.

“I would specifically ask anyone who witnesses any suspicious behaviour in and around buildings that aren’t frequently occupied, or has concerns regarding drug production and crime in their area, to report this to us so we can investigate.”

Those with concerns should report this to Police Scotland via 101, or to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
