69-year-old cyclist seriously injured after car collision in East Kilbride

Police are appealing for witnesses

Road policing officers are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was seriously injured in a crash in East Kilbride.

The incident happened on the A749 Glasgow Road around 12.15pm on Monday, 10 April.

The collision involved a 69-year-old male cyclist and a red Suzuki Alto car.

The man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. His injuries are serious but not believed to be life-threatening.

The male driver of the car was uninjured.

Sergeant Gemma Blackadder of the Road Policing Unit in Lanarkshire said: “Our enquiries to establish the circumstances which led to this collision are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may be able to help to come forward.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who was in the area and may have dashcam footage.

“Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 1477 of 10 April, 2023.”
