A sex attacker guilty of raping two young girls has been jailed for 10 years.

Kristofer Johnstone preyed on the first victim in Glasgow's Knightswood and on the Isle of Bute.

The second youngster was attacked in the city's Maryhill and Paisley, Renfrewshire.

The crimes spanned between 2003 and 2018.

Johnstone, of Kelloholm in Dumfries and Galloway, had denied the charges, but was convicted after a trial last month.

The 33 year-old appeared via video link from prison to be sentenced at the High Court in Glasgow.

Judge Alasdair MacFadyen told him: "The evidence of sexual abuse was overwhelming, alarming and distressing.

"As a teenager and an adult, you committed serious offences against young children.

"Your actions appeared motivated by your deviant sexual desires."

Johnstone was handed two consecutive five year jail-terms for each charge.

He was put on the sex offenders list indefinitely and also hit with non harassment orders banning him from contacting the victims.

His lawyer Patricia Baillie had earlier told the hearing that Johnstone was a first offender who had been classed as a medium risk of further similar crimes.
