Glasgow bakery, Mortons Rolls is set to restart production this weekend according to a local MSP.

It comes after the business went into liquidation earlier this month, with more than 200 employees served with redundancy notices.

Glasgow Anniesland representative Bill Kidd tweeted earlier today that business would resume from Sunday.

He wrote: "I'm delighted to announce that Morton Roll's will be starting production again on Sunday night under the new angel group owners.

"Apart from saving the very high-quality produce, jobs will be saved through this buy out. #mortonsrolls"

The buyer is thought to be from angel investors, Angel Group.

However, it is currently unknown the number of jobs which will be saved.

Angel Group and Morton Rolls have been contacted for comment.
