Police launch manhunt for suspect behind 'targeted' stabbing in Airdrie

Detectives investigating a stabbing in Airdrie have released a description of the suspect behind the “targeted attack”.
A 34-year-old man was taken to hospital and later released after he was assaulted in a car park on East High Street at around 8.40am on Wednesday, 28 February.
Officers are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
The suspect is described as being approximately 5ft 10in, dressed in dark clothing, wearing a dark coat with the hood up and spoke with a local accent.
Detective Constable Graham Anderson, Coatbridge CID, said: “It’s vital we trace the person responsible for this attack which happened in broad daylight in a busy area of Airdrie.
“I’d appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened to come forward. Likewise, if you have dashcam or private CCTV of East High Street around 8.40am on Wednesday, 28 February, please contact police to bring this to our attention.
“We are treating this as a targeted attack however officers are carrying out regular patrols of the area.”
