Live snakes dumped in Botanic Gardens glasshouse
3 of the non-venomous reptiles were spotted on Monday afternoon.
There was panic among staff at Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens after someone dumped three live snakes in one of the glasshouses.
The SSCPA were called to the city's West End on Monday afternoon and Glasgow City Council say the reptiles, which were non-venomous, were quickly captured safely and are now in the care of the charity.
A spokesman for the local authority said: “An irresponsible individual caused alarm to staff at the Botanic Gardens yesterday by dumping three live snakes in one of the glasshouses.
“The initial sightings caused distress, but luckily, we have a member of staff with knowledge of and experience with snakes who quickly identified them as non-venomous corn snakes. The snakes were quickly captured after an extensive search and the SSPCA was called.
