900 metres of telephone cables stolen in Stroud

Police are appealing for witnesses after 900 metres of telephone cables were stolen from roads in Stroud over the weekend.

Underground telephone cables were removed from Ridgeway in Bussage and Toadsmoor Road in Brimscombe overnight on Sunday into Monday (22 and 23 May).

It was reported that offenders had visited locations along the route before removing drain covers and stealing cables valued at £30,000.

The theft was spotted at around 6am on Monday after manhole covers were left off and a bag of discarded cables was found.

Investigating officers are asking anyone who witnessed suspicious activity or has dashcam/CCTV footage to get in contact.
