The leader of Cheltenham Borough Council has announced he will step down after serving the area for 30 years.

After 12 years as the leader of the council, Councillor Steve Jordan says he will not be seeking re-election as a councillor in the May 2021 elections.

He will step down as leader of the council sometime before May 2021 and is discussing a timetable for that with his colleagues.

Speaking about his decision, Cllr Steve Jordan said:

‘During my 30 years as a councillor I have thoroughly enjoyed making contributions both locally within my ward, All Saints, and as leader of the council.

"Pending the change in leadership, my focus will be supporting the delivery of our ambitious strategy to lead Cheltenham’s economic and community recovery.”
