Over 20 local good causes across Cheltenham have been awarded funding to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this summer.

To support local celebrations, the Borough Council made a ÂŁ50,000 grant fund available to help local good causes run events, activities and projects that will help the town to celebrate and mark the Platinum Jubilee.

This year, the country is coming together to mark the 70 year reign of Her Majesty The Queen. An extended bank holiday from June 2 to 5 will allow communities to join together to celebrate this historic occasion.

Councillor Flo Clucas, cabinet member for safety and communities said: “We are so lucky in Cheltenham to have so many organisations which are working really hard to support Cheltenham’s recovery after the pandemic, including resident–led groups, trader organisations, community groups and local schools."

"We have been bowled over by the response to the fund and so pleased that we have been able to support 22 groups to date who are going to play their part in creating a very special town-wide celebration."

There is still time to apply for grants, and the authority is encouraging more organisations to come forward with their ideas about how to create a long-lasting legacy from the Jubilee year.

The deadline has been extended until the 10th June.
