Hartpury University & College have confirmed 33 students have tested positive for Covid-19.

A spokesperson for the University says a number of "robust measures" are in place to prevent the spread of the virus to other students and staff.

They also confirmed that despite the number of cases remain "relatively low", they're working closely with Public Health England and Gloucestershire County Council COVID-19 Hub to ensure "all the necessary steps" are being taken to stop the transmission.

The cases are split between residential and non-residential students and are now being supported by the dedicated teams whilst they self-isolate.

The spokesperson continued: "The safety and well-being of our staff and students remains our top priority.

"We put in place a series of robust measures before welcoming our students back for the new term including: mask zones, hand sanitisation stations, and adherence to the ‘rule of 6’ when socialising.

"We have also introduced a combination of online and face-to-face lessons for smaller groups and increased the number of places to eat and study spaces on campus, to allow students to social distance.”
