Four vehicle collision on the A417 overnight

Road closures are in place following a serious four-vehicle collision on the A417 last night, Wednesday 22 June.

Police were called shortly after 10.30pm with a report of a collision between Maisemore and Gloucester.

The collision involved two motorcycles and two cars. One of the motorcyclists, a man, died at the scene.

Closures are in place on the A417 between Maisemore and the A40 Over roundabout while a collision investigation continues.

The closures are expected to remain in place throughout the morning, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving a vehicle while under the influence of drugs. He remains in police custody today.

Two people involved in the collision were taken to hospital last night to be checked over. The man who died was aged in his 50s.

Anyone who witnessed the collision, has dashcam footage, or who has any information which could assist the investigation and has not already spoken to police is asked to come forward.
