An operation by Gloucestershire Police is targeting drivers as part of a road safety campaign.

The campaign focuses on four major offences. The 'fatal four' include speeding, using a mobile phone behind the wheel, not wearing a seatbelt and driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

Throughout the campaign officers will also be looking out for uninsured vehicles and will be highly visible as they carry out patrols.

Acting Inspector Gareth Galdwin, said: "It's disappointing that even now we still regularly see people using their mobile phones. And people still take the risk of not wearing a seatbelt.

"Most disappointing is that people are out there drink and drug driving- to some people the messaging still isn't getting through.

"Unfortunately now we're coming into the time of year we do see more fatal accidents especially for motorcyclists. It's a period we try to be as visible as possible and take action where we can to make our roads safer."
