A man’s been arrested after an armed police stand-off in a Gloucestershire village yesterday (14/01).

Police officers were called to an address in Hasfield shortly before 2pm to arrest a man on suspicion of breaching a Domestic Violence Protection Order.

But after officers arrived the man, in his 50s, made threats to harm himself and others.

Police say negotiators and firearms officers were at the scene for more than six hours before the man was detained.

They say nobody was injured during the incident and a person at the address is receiving appropriate support.

A police update issued on Sunday reads: "At 8.20pm this evening (Sunday 14 January), a man in his 50s was detained by officers.

"He has been arrested on suspicion of breaching a Domestic Violence Protection Order.

"A second person at the address is now receiving the appropriate support.

"Nobody was injured during the incident, which has now ended."

The road was shut but it has since reopened.
