Four men from North and North East Lincolnshire are cycling the length of the UK to raise money for a mental health charity.

Declan Savage, Joey Jackson, Ryan Smaller and Warren Slaven will set off on their bikes from the UK’s most northern point, John o’ Groats in Scotland, and head all the way down to Cornwall’s Land’s End.

They’ll be supported by two more, Alex Lee and Ollie Bates, who will be following the 900-mile journey in a motorhome.

Declan tells us the issue of mental health, particularly through the pandemic is what pushed them to organise the journey.

For Joey, it was an issue closer to his heart, after his father took his own life last year.

Declan said, “The tragic loss of Joey’s dad is the reason behind the whole bike ride

"We’re doing it in memory of Mark Jackson."

The four are now preparing for the challenge which they plan to do on May 22nd, over just 9 days.

They’ve already raised over £5,000 of their £7,500 target for Mind UK.

Declan said, “The Covid-19 pandemic has only made things harder and much worse for people.

"With the country in lockdown, organised charity events are unable to run and seem to have been forgotten about.

"This is why we are taking it upon ourselves to organise this."
