A Grimsby arts Centre that helps those in recovery from addiction is looking to secure a heritage grant.

The Great Escape, based on the docks' historic Kasbah wants the cash to carry out repair and renovation work.

Creative Start director Sam Delaney, who's overcome his own personal battle with alcohol, is now putting the final touches to his five-figure application.

"It needs re-pointing, it needs new doors. All the doors are probably the original doors. So the front doors need replacing, the windows need replacing - they are rotting away. Really the heritage grant is for the external works on the building"

He continues "it is quite safe , but the building from outside - if you look at the building, it looks like it's been left for years. It really needs to be brought back in line with looking presentable really and looking like somewhere people want to go to"
