Today we're finding out the real impact the cost of living crisis is having on some people in our region on the day communities come together to try and help those who are struggling.

Our Cash for Kids day kicks off this morning with schools and businesses all taking part in fundraising challenges.

All the money raised will go towards local families struggling to make ends meet.

We've been speaking to Dave Wells founder and chair of the We Are One charity in Grimsby about how bad the situation is amongst the people they help.

He told us "Prices are going up, including fuel, those that need help are being affected a huge amount".

"I can see the situation getting a lot worse."

"We haven't got enough food to go round, our foodbanks and hot food kitchens are becoming much more busy".

"It's not crisis time yet but it's certainly getting that way."

"We're heading into a really challenging time and need all the help we can get."

"These families truly need all the help they can get."

On Cash for Kids Dave said:

"The families have benefited a great deal, I don't think they would have been able to survive as well as they have without donations from Cash for Kids."

Make sure you listen out throughout today to find out what's being done and how you can get involved.
