A new, international multi-million pounds theatre project's launching and Grimsby is getting involved.

'People Power Partnership' wants to unite 11 countries across Europe through hip-hop.

Organisers are looking for up to 20 young people to sign up.

As part of the Grimsby Creates programme, and in partnership with National Portfolio Organisation Magna Vitae are working virtually with colleagues across Europe on the world-class €4 million Creative Europe project which will showcase local talent on an international scale.

Magna Vitae will work with young adults and communities over the next few years to develop a performance piece to be delivered in public spaces in Grimsby in the second half of 2021. The project will also involve collaboration with other, like-minded, young creatives from 12 other European towns and cities culminating in a large-scale ‘finale’ in Freiburg, Germany. This large-scale production will then be toured around Europe including a performance in Grimsby.

The organisers are looking for 10 to 20 young people (aged 18 – 25) from Grimsby to participate in the project each year, who will each receive a life-changing development opportunity.

No experience is necessary, just a passion for your town, its culture and a desire to share this and learn from other young people across Europe.

Other partners include Germany, Denmark, Romania, Croatia, Lithuania, Latvia, Spain, Portugal and the Czech Republic.

Cllr Callum Procter, Cabinet member for culture, said: “This is a really exciting programme where Grimsby’s amazing creative talent can get involved with others on an international scale. I’m really looking forward to putting Grimsby on the map for great cultural reasons!”

Auditions will take place in the spring.

The project is part of the Creative Europe Programme of the EU and 50% funded by the Commission.
