Grimsby Town's season opener on Saturday postponed due to Covid

Some first team players tested positive for coronavirus.

Grimsby Town's first game of the new season has been postponed - after some first team players tested positive for coronavirus.

PCR tests for the players came back positive - the Mariners were supposed to play away at Bromley on Saturday.

The club says details of the rearrangement of the fixture will be announced in due course.

In a statement, Grimsby Town said: "Grimsby Town Football Club can confirm that it has received the results of the PCR tests it was awaiting.

"Unfortunately, these results have come back as positive and as a result, Saturday's opening National League fixture away at Bromley has now been postponed. Details relating to the rearrangement of the fixture will be announced in due course.

"We would like to wish those players affected a very speedy recovery and we would also like to apologise sincerely to our supporters for the inconvenience this may cause.
