Humberside Police has recorded almost 800 hate crimes, targeting members of the LGBT community, over the last 3 years.

More than half of those included violence.

Caroline Paige has received abuse in the past for being trans.

"You could go out all day and have a great time and be with friends, and then you're walking home and somebody comes up to you and says something and makes you feel vulnerable.

"That might put somebody off then going out again for months perhaps, because it's just a negative experience and they don't want it repeated.

"It was kind of a worry that, how can you go by in life if everybody feels that way, but you gradually learn it's not that everybody feels that way, it's just that a small minority of people do and they tell you about it.

"People say, well it's just a name, name-calling, it might be just name-calling, but actually, that might be the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th time you've been in that situation that week and it just builds up.

"It puts people down, it's a negative thing. Why does it happen? We're all here once, there's no place for hate.

"Why don't we just be nice to each other?"
