Grimsby Town have been PROMOTED to the Football League.

The Mariners return to the League Two at the first time of asking.

It's after Paul Hurst's side beat Solihull Moors 2-1 at West Ham United's London Stadium on Sunday (5 June) in extra time.

Over 22,000 fans descended on the capital for the Vanarama Promotion Final and it's thought 13,000 of them were backing Town.

Winning streak

Grimsby Town were forced to come back from behind after Kyle Hudlin gave Moors the lead just before half-time.

However, in the 69th minute, John McAtee levelled play between the sides.

However it was 1-1 at full time - forcing the sides into another 30 minutes of play.

Nail biting extra time

13,000 Mariner fans watched on as their side went again for a chance to return to the Football League.

A second goal in the second half of extra time by Jordan Maguire-Drew put Town ahead - and ultimately secured their return to the EFL.

Midfielder Ben Fox was also awarded Man of the Match.
