Yorkshire Councils will be hosting local funeral screenings for Queen Elizabeth II

The Royal Hall in Harrogate and the Grand Hall in Scarborough will both have funeral screenings open to the public on Monday

Councils around Yorkshire have announced that they will be hosting funeral screenings for Queen Elizabeth II to the public to attend if they wish.

The funeral date and funeral screenings are set to be on Monday 19th September.

Here's a list of where you can find local funeral screenings in Yorkshire for Queen Elizabeth II:

  • Royal Hall, Harrogate

On Monday 19 September, Harrogate Convention Centre will be broadcasting Her Majesty The Queen’s funeral on a screen in the Royal Hall for those that are unable to watch it at home.

The Royal Hall will be open from 10am and approximately 950 seats will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. A book of condolence will also be available for people to sign if they so wish.

Paula Lorimer, director of Harrogate Convention Centre, said: “We feel that many people will wish to watch the funeral of Her Majesty The Queen at home. However, to ensure those residents who would prefer to watch the funeral in the presence of others are able to, we will have a screen broadcasting the service."

  • Grand Hall, Scarborough Spa

A big screen will show the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at 11am on Monday 19 September in the Grand Hall, Scarborough Spa.

The service is being shown for people to come together in grief and remembrance, especially those who may live alone and may benefit from being around other people as the nation mourns together.

Doors will open at 10.30am and people are advised to arrive in good time to avoid disturbing the start of the funeral for those attending.

  • Ripon Cathedral, Ripon

On Monday the State Funeral of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will be screened in the cathedral from 9.30am following the 9am Service of Holy Communion.

Morning Prayer will take place at 8.30am and Evening Prayer at 5.30pm with prayers for Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Majesty the King.

The cathedral will remain open until 7pm on Monday and the book of condolence will remain open until 11am on Tuesday.

  • Hull City Hall

A large screen will be put up on the balcony of Hull City Hall to broadcast proceedings from 9am.

  • Millennium Square, Leeds

A screening will take place at Millennium Square between 10am and 6pm.

  • Bradford Cathedral

Bradford Cathedral will begin the funeral screening from 10am until 4pm.

  • Lincoln Cathedral

The public will be able to attend the funeral screening held at Lincoln Cathedral. The ceremony will be held in in the cathedral nave.

The Cathedral will open at 8am on Monday and the screening will begin at 11am.

Lincoln Castle will also be showing proceedings.

Book of condolence

City of York Council will not have a screening but will have a book of condolence available. This will be a physical book which people can visit to write a message in.

The book is available in person, at West Offices, between 8.30am and 5.00pm. York Minster has also opened a book.

Anyone in York wishing to place floral tributes to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II can do so:

  • On the lawn outside West Offices Customer Centre
  • Outside of York Minster, in the Dean’s Park under the Five Sisters Window

Leaders from York have shared their condolences.

The Rt Hon Lord Mayor of York, Councillor David Carr said: "On behalf of the Civic Party and the whole City of York, I send deepest sympathies to The Royal Family on this saddest of days. Her Majesty the Queen's loyalty to her country and the city, and her devoted services to her people, has been an inspiration to so many, for so long. Because we have always been delighted to welcome The Queen to grace York's great moments, we now feel her loss very deeply."
