13 people have been arrested during recent operations to take drugs and dealers off the streets of York.

Nine warrants were carried out by police in the Micklegate and east York area over the past six months.

Suspected class-A and class-B drugs were seized along with illegal weapons and equipment commonly used for drug dealing.

One of the warrants in the Tang Hall area was based on information that particularly harmful drugs were being dealt from an address.

PC Rachel Hughes of the Micklegate and East York Neighbourhood Policing Team said:

“In the last six months, nine Misuse of Drugs Act warrants have been gained and executed in the Micklegate and East area of York, leading to the arrest and investigation of 13 individuals on suspicion of drug supply offences and the seizure of suspected illegal drugs.

"This shows we simply will not tolerate this harmful activity in our community.

“We wouldn't been able to tackle this type of activity without your support. If you have any information about suspected drug dealing in your community, no matter how small, please contact us."
