A 24-hour vigil to show support for Ukraine is underway in Harrogate.

It began at 10am at the war memorial.

It's been organised by Christopher and Lindis Percy.

Lindis has been telling Greatest Hits Radio Harrogate and the Yorkshire Dales why they wanted to do something:

"We wanted to stand in solidarity for all those people who have left their homes, frightened at what's going on. I can't even imagine what it's like for them. We're stood in the sunshine in Harrogate when people in Ukraine are facing having bombs going off. It must be terrifying for me."

We also spoke to Valerie and Paul Kelly who are standing shoulder to shoulder with other people, in solidarity for Ukraine.

"Like everybody, we've been watching and listening to the developments in Ukraine. We wanted to do something and that's why we're here today. It's unbelievable how things have moved so quickly within a week - it's frightening - our hearts go out to those poor people who have fled the country and those left behind who're fighting."
