More ambulance call-outs than expected as lockdown eased

Yorkshire Ambulance Service say they were called out more than they were expecting as lockdown restrictions eased on Monday evening (12 April).

As part of the second phase of the Government's 'roadmap' out of lockdown, pubs and restaurants are now able to serve customers outdoors, and non-essential shops are open again. Click here for a full list of rule changes.

The NHS Trust received 2,873 emergency calls over the 24 hour period, which was 2.8% higher than forecast.

The main increase in calls came from 3pm onwards.

A spike of activity came around 8pm.

Between 3pm and midnight, 16 assault-related incidents were attended by ambulance crews, compared to just seven in the same time period on Sunday evening.
