Football supporters are eagerly awaiting the start of the new season, and Harrogate Town fans are keen to know when they’ll be allowed back at the CNG Stadium.

The EFL is trialing fans in stadiums, with Cambridge being selected as the team to carry out two test runs.

Town will make their debut in the football league next weekend, with a League Two clash away at Southend United.

Their first few home games will be at Doncaster's Keepmoat Stadium, while the pitch at Wetherby Road is replaced.

But fans are itching to get back in the stands as soon as possible.

Jordan Ford, from the Harrogate Town supporter's club, said:

"Everyone appreciates the reasons for it, and I think with the trials coming in, it is a sign that things are potentially changing, and I think by around October time we will be able to start getting back to matches and supporting the team.

"The way they're doing it with the trials, it certainly makes sense to do it like that because otherwise supporters wouldn't be going back at all. The trial matches should work really well.

"It's nice to see that there is an end in sight and it's not just a case of everybody getting back to the games straight away, you can tell that they're putting our health first and they want to make sure that it's the right thing to do."
