Harrogate Town AFC have signed William Hondermarck from high-flying Championship side Norwich City on loan until the end of the season.

The young midfielder becomes the club's second January signing this week after forward Josh March was confirmed yesterday.

Born in France before moving to Ireland at the age of five, Hondermarck is a powerful box to box midfielder with an eye for goal.

He began his professional career in Ireland and joined Drogheda United in 2018, making his senior debut as a 17-year-old in the Irish League Cup in April 2018. His league debut soon followed that May.

Hondermarck made 17 first-team appearances throughout his debut 2018/19 season before attracting the interest of Norwich City.

He moved to East Anglia in January 2019 and has impressed playing in The Canaries u18s and u23s sides since.

Hondermarck now joins up with Simon Weaver’s squad for the remainder of the campaign.

“We can see he’s got a big future ahead of him. He’s a big athlete and something different from what we’ve got in midfield.” Said the Harrogate Boss.

“He’s someone with a really long stride but he’s a graceful player who will get box to box and make it happen in the attacking third.

“We’ll be looking at him to get in amongst it and create and provide goals. Will has made the commitment to come over to England to play and we know he’ll be dedicated, professional and hungry to play for us.”
