Harrogate Town have announced their second signing of the summer.

22 year-old defender Kyle Ferguson joins from National League side Altrincham.

At the age of 22, Ferguson is very much in the early days of his footballing career but has already played football in America, Sweden, Ireland.

Although spending a short time in England’s fifth division with Altrincham, the young Scotsman boasted some impressive statistics, including winning 87% of his aerial duels – the best in the division.

Harrogate Town's second signing of the summer also has football in the blood as he’s the son of former Scotland international Barry Ferguson, as well as cousin to Lewis Ferguson who plays for Aberdeen and the Scotland first team.

Manager Simon Weaver believes Ferguson can have a big impact on the team’s defence, with his height and power being desirable attributes:

“I’ve watched every minute of Kyle at Altrincham and we’re convinced he can go from strength to strength.

“He will add height and presence, but he’s also mobile, which are qualities you rarely see together.

“He has shown great desire in his young career so far to really kick on in the game, he’s been prepared to move out of his comfort zone and play in different countries, we’re confident he’s on an upward trajectory and look forward to seeing that progress continue with us.”

Ferguson will wear number 24 at the club.
