North Yorkshire families are being encouraged not to suffer in silence if they're worried about finding the money to feed their children this Easter holiday.

Many schools have now broken up meaning pupils won't benefit from a free school meal.

Karen Martin is a volunteer at resurrected bites who work to tackle food poverty in Harrogate and Knaresborough and says people are really struggling: "Definitely because of the cost of living we have seen an influx of people with all sorts of different needs, people having to make choices between food and putting the heating on or putting petrol in their car to get to work."

"We see a very diverse, mix of people, lots of people who've been managing for a long time and then due to the cost of living can't afford to put food on the table anymore. It's not just your petrol that has gone up it's your food and utilities etc."

She's encouraging people to reach out for support if they are struggling: "You never know what situation you are going to find yourself in, we are a very friendly group of people, we do have people who come down who do worry about getting judged but when they leave they say it's such a lovely environment."
